Brass tubing, with a gleaming brushed finish, forms the body of the whistle, and incorporates bore perturbations for octave balancing. The maple head joint, which utilizes a double o-ring tuning slide for ease of tuning, generates a rich, warm, reedy tone and is extremely comfortable in the mouth. |
| Choices of finger hole patterns and bore sizes are available for the Low D while the Low F and G offer choices of hole patterns. Custom keys are available on request. Reyburn Whistles is offering tunable soprano whistles in the keys of D and C and are available as a set (one head and two bodies). In the alto range Bb is available These instruments use a Delrin head, a brass body and utilize bore purturbations for octave balancing. These whistles are fairly loud, have a bit of chiff, a wisp of breath and offer a full, round somewhat complex tone and are suitable for session play. New to the line is a narrow bore D for a quieter, sweeter sound. For those who want a different sound from their whistle, alternative scales are now available including a natural minor, Hungarian minor and an Oriental scale (four holes) called "Insempe".
