Reyburn Whistles has recently
redesigned the voicing on the narrow bore low D and is now recommending
it as the “Standard Bore” model. The new voicing has
strengthened the low end but retains the quick response needed
in Celtic music. The tone is darker (hollower) than the original
model and plays much sweeter and easier in the upper register.
The tonal balance across the octaves is very smooth and the overall
volume of the instrument is fairly loud.
The original standard bore model is still
available as the “Wide Bore” model.
Reyburn Whistles is now offering a narrow
bore soprano D for those who want a quieter sweeter high whistle.
This instrument is suitable for solo play or for play in small
groups. It is fairly loud but not as loud as the “session”
model.
